FEARLESS WATERCOLOURS (for Beginners) and FEARLESS WATERCOLOURS CONTINUED
Sat. October 14 and Sun. Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Qu’Appelle Valley Centre for the Arts, Fort Qu’Appelle
“Sue’s Watercolor Playshops bring back the long lost joy of playing with paint just to find out what it will do if you try this or that. It is fun to try out the different brushes and color combinations. It is always amazing to discover what beauty can emerge from play.”

These two days can be taken separately, or for a slight savings, you can participate in the whole weekend.
Fearless Watercolours (for Beginners) introduces you to the joy and fluidity of this medium using a variety of gently guided exercises. You will learn about the roles of water, paper and paint in watercolour painting. You will mix colours and create a simple colour wheel. You will be introduced to some basic techniques such as wet on wet, glazing, dry brush, washes. Your day will end by creating a watercolour mandala. See example on right. The atmosphere is one of exploration, discovery, fun and you will probably get so caught up in painting, you will forget to go to the bathroom! Whoops!
Fearless Watercolours Continued is a chance to take what was learned on Saturday and extend it a little further and dig a little deeper. On this day, guided exercises will have you choosing the subject matter – a still life, flowers and/or a scene of nature. Depending on the weather, we may take our paints outside. You do not have to have previously taken “Fearless Watercolours” to register for this day, but some experience with watercolours would be helpful.
Cost: $0-$100 for one day, $0- $180 for both days. Cost includes snacks, tuition and room rental. Please bring your own lunch. Supplies are extra. A supply list will be sent once registration is confirmed.$50 deposit to register(unless you choose the $0 option). E-transfers, cheques and cash accepted.
“Little did I know that attending a Fearless Watercolour PLAYshop would be the beginning of a year-long watercolour-as-meditation; watercolour-as-therapy; watercolour as playfulness; watercolour-as-poetry. I created a series of elephant watercolours, playing on the metaphor of “the elephant in the room”, allowing these paintings to voice things I was not able to speak. I was amazed that one Playshop with Sue would give me the skills and the confidence to take this creative journey toward self-awareness and mindfulness.”
